We are finally starting to see the Atom processor show up on some industrial boards.  So far, we have been unable to get our hands on any of these boards.

Some of the big players in the industrial field are showing boards on their sites, but most say “coming soon”.  I was looking at Global American’s 2808090.  It’s a Nano-ITX board with the atom.  Here’s the “B” option:

Nano-ITX Emebedded board with the Intel Atom 1.6 Processor, 1 X DDR2 SO-DIMM, 6 X USB Version 2.0, 1 X PCI-E x1, 1 x Winbond, 1 x Compact Flash Type II, 1 X Gigabit LANN

They say good things come in small packages.  Let’s see how long it takes for the dual-core Atoms to reach the industrial market.

I think it will be a while before the dual-core Atoms (Atom 330) will reach the Industrial Market. Netbooks seem to be all the rage at the moment and with IBM stepping in with their new S10 Netbook and Dell shipping the Mini-9 the consumer market seems to have a great need for these processors. Not to mention the fact that the most popular Atom processor the N270 is already hard to find in both markets, I can’t imagine how long it will take for the dual-core Atom to be available.
